There is a lot going on in the world, and sometimes we might struggle to disconnect and connect to Allah during our Salah. We have some tips to help you with your concentration during your prayer:
-Start taking a break before your Salah:
Use the ritual of wudhu (ablution) to help you prepare your mind for the upcoming salat. Prepare the mind by thinking about your upcoming salat. Try to forget for a few minutes about everything else. Remind yourself that Allah is waiting for your salat and will listen attentively to every word you say. Put your intention before praying.
-Maintain a clean and quiet corner in your home dedicated for prayer:
This will help you avoid distractions and eventually, your mind will identify your corner with your prayer, bringing calm and relaxation.
-Learn the meaning of prayer:
If you don't understand the meaning of the Qur'an, try to understand the exact meaning of the words that you are reciting. Think about the meaning as you recite the verses. This will help you have a deeper connection with the words you're saying. You can start with the translation of Al Fatiha and your favorite surahs, you can write the translation and keep it in your Salah corner. Read it everyday until you become familiar with that specific Surah.
-Try to keep a real conversation with Allah, instead of repeating the same words over and over again:
Think about prayer as a real conversation, you can't see Allah but He is there, listening to all what you're saying, so be sincere with your words. Use your own vocabulary to communicate with Him, talk to Him in a real way. Salah is a moment of real communication, real conversation, so it's good to put your heart on it.
-Bring the mind back when ever you feel that focus has been lost:
Recite the ta'wudh (seeking refuge with Allah from Shaitaan): (A'udhu billahi minash shaitaan nirrajeem)
Remember that Shaitaan's mission is to separate us from Allah and that one of his favorite tactics to do this is to make us lose concentration in salah.
-Identify factors that distract you in prayer and eliminate them
Don't forget to make duaa. Duaa is a powerful tool.
We ask Allah SWT to help us achieve Ihsanne in our prayer. Amin
